Buttigieg says goal is to move project forward before September.
On Monday, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg spoke of the coming infrastructure plan from the president’s administration, saying that details would be released soon. The secretary said, “Conversations are taking place right now, as you’ve seen — Oval Office meetings with the president, leaders from both parties, from both houses. It’s fair to say that in short order you’re going to be seeing more.”
Though he did not give a definite deadline, Secretary Buttigieg did make clear the goal is to move a bill that authorizes funding for highways, roads, and rail forward in Congress before September 30. One of President Biden’s campaign platforms was to address the nation’s aging infrastructure, which recently got a poor grade from the American Society of Civil Engineers
